DR. RIITTAKERTTU KALTIALA

Riittakerttu Kaltiala, MD, PhD, BSc, is professor of adolescent psychiatry in Tampere University and chief psychiatrist in the Department of Adolescent Psychiatry in Tampere University Hospital. She is the leader of one of the two nationally centralized gender identity services for minors in Finland since 2011 when these services were first opened. Since then she has been actively involved in legislative and service development, continuous education and scientific writing related to gender identity issues in minors nationally and internationally. In addition to topics related to gender dysphoria, she has published extensively on adolescent mental health epidemiology, health services research and clinical adolescent psychiatry.
